Description
Bluegrass is a magnificent example of New Zealand's Golden Era of boatbuilding - a 38-foot cruiser/racer designed and built by the legendary John Lidgard in 1977. Constructed in triple-skin kauri, glassed over, she carries a beautifully fair and shapely hull that turns heads at every marina. In 2021, her skilled current owner undertook a comprehensive refit that leaves little to do: a new Beta Marine 50hp diesel (310 hours), entirely new driveline including coupling, shaft, cutlass bearing and three-blade feathering propeller, new standing rigging and halyards, all new skin fittings and seacocks, new refrigeration, and a full repaint throughout. The electrical systems were entirely renewed. Below decks, accommodation is generous for a yacht of this era - a private double berth forward, a full bathroom just aft, and a central salon with a dinette that converts to an additional double. Two quarter berths aft complete the seven-berth layout. On deck, wheel steering is complemented by a Hydrovane wind vane self-steering system - ideal for offshore passages. Minor cosmetic finishing remains but in no way affects immediate use; Bluegrass is ready to sail away today. A true yachtsman's yacht for those who appreciate craftsmanship. Located in Auckland.
